Insider's Scoop: Arts and Culture Tips
Who wouldn’t want to visit Aspen? The arts and culture community
thrives here. Performers are no exception. That’s why on
any given week you’ll find Aspen hosting world-class artists
across all genres. Use our "insider tips" to help you
navigate all that is offered here. You’ve heard of the
famous summer-long Aspen
Music Festival and Jazz
Aspen Snowmass but don’t forget
the Belly
Up, we think the most exceptional music venue between
the coasts (sshhh, Jimmy Buffett plays here!). There’s also
the grand old lady of Aspen, the beautiful and historic Wheeler
Opera House with
comedy, film, music and much more every week. The Wheeler’s
website is also the go-to place for tickets for more or less any
performance event in Aspen, even those in other venues, so check
out their calendar too.
Aspen’s vast number of festivals –film,
music, writing, food are just the tip of the iceberg –will
satisfy even determined culture vulture. Our locals’ tips?
Visit Theatre Aspen, a jewel of a professional theatre in the Rio
Grande Park (right next to the famous John Denver sanctuary) which
plays host to local and Broadway talent all summer and
and the Red Brick Center for
the Arts where you’ll see locally-made
art and maybe even pick up a unique souvenir of
your visit. Become an instant insider by attending one of the lively
events hosted by Aspen’s Historical Society (they’re
also guardians of our terrific museums).
