Insider's Scoop: Dining and Nightlife Tips
Fabulous dining opportunities await you at every turn in Aspen,
from haute cuisine to a quick snack. There’s even a comprehensive
dining guide website where you can check out all that’s on
offer with reviews, up-to-the minute info about events, restaurant
specials and fabulous evenings out. When it comes to nightlife,
Aspen has it all! From Aprés ski until the wee hours, there
is something for everyone here. Our "insider tips" will
help you make sure you don't miss a thing. Visit www.eataspen.com for the scoop. Don’t forget to make reservations, especially
if you have a large party – even in laid-back Aspen, restaurants
get extremely busy.
An old favorite that never disappoints, is
the beautiful Pinecreek Cookhouse, hands down winner for scenery.
Bike there in summer, cross-country ski or sleigh-ride in during
winter for an unparalleled experience. Or head up to Cloud Nine
at Highlands for fantastic raclette and strudel (at 10,000 feet).
Also on-mountain, locals love Bonnie’s
on Aspen Mountain for the best lunch in town and watch out for
the regular night-time Sundeck Dinners on Aspen mountain (make
a reservation for a large party). Join a big friendly crowd at
Jimmy’s on Friday nights
where they push back the tables and everyone dances (they have
tango nights too!). Don’t miss breakfast at the Hickory House
- the regular presence of Aspen’s Police officers is a good
endorsement, we think!
Our café scene has never been better – there’s
no better way to mix and mingle with the locals. Check out Peaches,
Victoria’s and a newcomer – Franck Thirion’s
bakery where you’ll be transported to France (watch out for
the addictive croissants) And sometimes just a quick bite is all
you need. Locals frequent The Big Wrap for the best value lunch
in town and families with kids all head for CP Burger next to the
Silver Circle ice rink for great value, delicious food, including
excellent grown-up offerings.
If you’re planning to cook for
yourselves, Aspen has two grocery stores, City Market (at 711 Cooper
Avenue) and Clarks’ Market
at 300 Puppy Smith. Both stores have a surprisingly good range
of products, including plenty of organics, despite their relatively
compact size. Clarks has great ready-made food if you don’t
feel like cooking. And don’t miss the gourmet treats at Speciality
Foods of Aspen and The Cheese Shop with hundreds of cheeses and
fabulous sandwiches too.
